Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei

Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei is arguably the most well-known name in Chen taijiquan, and is the standard-bearer for Chen taijiquan around the world.

He was born in Chen Village (Chenjiagou) in 1949 and started studying at the age of 8 with two of his uncles, Chen Zhaopei and Chen Zhaokui.

In 1974, Grandmaster Chen began a remarkable streak where he placed first or won at least one gold medal for 14 consecutive years in national competition.

Fast forward to the present day, where Grandmaster Chen's students now number in the thousands in over 30 countries around the world. He has produced many videos and several books on Chen taijiquan, and holds many coaching and honorary appointments.

Among his many distinctions, in 1995 he was named one of the "Top Ten Martial Arts Masters" in China by the China National Wushu Association. He has also been immortalized as one of the "Four Tigers of Chen Village" along with Chen Xiaowang, Zhu Tiancai and Wang Xian.
